An architectural project gone wrong meant that Pisa has a leaning tower since the year 1372. It is now, of course, one of the most iconic sites in Italy, but our visit to Pisa has many more reasons behind it.
Wander away from the beautiful but crowded Plaza dei Miracoli and into the historic centre for walks along the riverbank, homemade ice cream at world class “Gelateria De Coltelli”, or a mural painted on a Pisan church by an American pop artist just before his death.
Where will you catch your flight to Pisa from?
Nearby Florence should be taken into account when planning this trip. It is just under an hour away, and can be reached easily by train.
